Surviving the Cold Weather

With winter rolling in we have a few tips for surviving the cold weather, holidays, staying healthy, and staying fit all winter long. These posts will come as a series, each week we will share tips so you can continue to progress toward your healthy lifestyle goals every day, even through the winter. This week, we share tips on surviving the cold weather.

Cold weather is hard on your body, your mind, and your spirit.


Negative effects cold weather has your body:

  1. Weakened immune system.
  2. Weakened respiratory system.
  3. Increased incidence of migraines.
  4. Decreased libido.

What can you do to support your body during this winter, and for every winter following? First, establish healthy habits that you do daily all year long. But, even if you haven’t been consistent with your daily healthy habits you can still start now.


Healthy Ways to Survive the Cold Weather:

  1. Supercharge your immune system.
    • Sneak in some super foods. One great way to do this is to add spinach and avocado into a protein smoothie or add puree’d cauliflower or pumpkin into tomato sauces.
    • Drink better water. Get yourself a better water filter system. Drinking the cleanest water will support your body by removing additional toxins from building up and causing more damage.
  2. Move your body.
    • Bundle up for outdoor activities such as skiing or walking, depending on your climate location or head to an indoor area to do some walking or stair climbing.
  3. Keep your sinuses clear.
    • Support your respiratory system with pure essential oils that open your airways and promote blood floow.
  4. Set the mood.
    • Turn the heat on, literally and figuratively, and focus on increasing your connection with your partner. Mood lighting and ambiance can make all the difference. Or try diffusing your favorite seductive essential oils.
